Francis J. “Frank” Palmer, 82, of Storrs, husband of Doris (Rickbeil) Palmer, died Wednesday, (Janu- ary 30, 2002) in Storrs. He was born May 5, 1919 in Sheyenne, ND, the son of Walter and Agnes (Cavanaugh) Palmer, and had lived in Storrs since 1974. He was a 1942 graduate of North Dakota State University receiving a degree in Electrical Engineering. He spent his career in engineering at various firms, retiring from LaPointe Industries in Rockville as vice president and director of engineering. He was actively involved in the Boy Scouts of America for over 25 years and an avid fan of UCONN sports, especially the football team and women’s basketball team. In addition to his wife of 59 years, he is survived by a daughter, Anne Palmer of Vernon; five sons, Larry Palmer of Mission, TX, Jim Palmer of Lanham, MD, Tom Palmer and his wife Beverly of St. Charles, IL, David Palmer of San Francisco, CA, and Dr. Jeff Palmer and his wife Vicki of Greenfield, MA. He is also survived by a half sister, Grace Weaver of Kalispell, MT; two half brothers, Douglas Palmer of Great Fall, MT, and Dr. Wesley Palmer of Biloxi, MS; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his step mother, Ella Palmer; and a half brother, Mayo Palmer.
