Francis “Barney”Verdicchio of New Milford was 98 when he passed away peacefully Friday October16, 2015. Born and raised in New York City, he was a resident of New Milford since 1972. Barney proudly served oversees in the US Army during World War II. During his service to his country, he would often entertain the troops with his comedy and appear on the Major Bowes Radio Show performing impersonations. He was a self-employed cab drive rin New York City owning his own medallion for over 30 years. Barney was a member of the New Milford / Teaneck Elks. He was the beloved husband of Sebastiana “Nellie” Verdicchio for 66 years, the loving father of Dorothy Van Slyke and Joseph Verdicchio, and the cherished grandfather of Mark Van Slyke.
