Frances M. Prentice 91, of Clyde, died on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at The Gardens of Clyde.

Mrs. Prentice was born on June 9, 1923 in Pacolet, S.C. to the now deceased William and Pearl (Johnson) McClure. She graduated from Clyde High School in 1941.

On March 11, 1944, she married Wallace John Henry Hooper in El Paso, Texas. Mr. Hooper was killed on December 31, 1944 in the Battle of the Bulge.

On September 4, 1945, she married Harold Walter Prentice, he preceded her in death on April 12, 1983.

Frances was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and American Legion. She was also a member of the Moose Auxiliary. She enjoyed her garden and crocheting.

Survivors include a son, Carl (Kimberly) Prentice, Clyde; a daughter, Trudi Prentice, Burgoon; four grandchildren, Clint Ledman; Heather (Jamie) Gilchrist; Heidi Prentice and Zachary Prentice. Four great grandchildren also survive, along with her son-in-law, Guy Ledman.

In addition to her parents and two husbands, Frances was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Ledman on Aug. 3, 2005; two brothers, Willis McClure and Lewis McClure and two sisters, Lourie “Mae” Koke and “Louise” Nellie Glaser-Hall.
