Frances L. Greene passed away of natural causes April 9, 2017 in Culver City, CA. Fran was born on October 20, 1925 in Murphy, NC and moved to Taft as a child. She graduated from Taft Union High School in 1943 and worked for CCMO Oil Company as well as for the Taft Chamber of Commerce, Taft City Schools and the Taft City Council. Fran was well known in Taft and Bakersfield for her outgoing, witty personality and her many years of community and civic activities. In 1971 she was named “Woman of the Year” for spearheading a Betty Crocker coupon drive that provided kidney dialysis machines and prolonged the lives of six recipients. She was a loving devoted mother to her two sons and is survived by Kelly W. Greene and his wife Cathy of Huntington, VT and Kasey A. Greene of Playa Vista, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents William Cearley and Nebraska Cearley (Thompson), and her husband Dale Greene. She relocated to Kern City after her husband’s death and lived there until suffering a stroke in 2011.
