Frances L. “Fran” (Moore) Sampson, the daughter of Alva and Ellen (Stock) Moore, was born on March 23, 1921 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She moved to Newton, Iowa in 1925 and was a graduate of Newton High School in 1939.
On December 29, 1940, Fran was united in marriage to James E. Sampson at Lancaster, Missouri. After the war they had lived in Killduff, Iowa, Kellogg, Iowa, where Fran had her beauty shop in their home and then moved back to Newton in the late 1960’s.
Fran was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James in 1987; her daughter, Linda Beth Sampson in 1985; and her brother, Riley Morre. Those left to honor her memory include her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Pat Sampson of Des Moines, Iowa; her three grandchildren, James L. Sampson and her wife, Carolyn of Austin, Texas; Deb Jones and her husband, Mike of Humeston, Iowa; and Scott A. Sampson and his fiancee, Jennifer Roach of Maxwell, Iowa; her two great-grandchildren, Tyler J. Sampson of Maxwell, Iowa and Ryan M. Jones of Humeston, Iowa; her two brothers, Galen Moore of Ottumwa, Iowa and Duane Moore of Phoenix, Arizona; her three sisters, Doris Korros of Westville, Indiana; Gladys Griggs of Newton and Rozella Bale of Colfax, Iowa and her sister-in-law, Billie Moore of Newton.
