Mrs. Frances Jacobs Campbell passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2015, peacefully and surrounded by her children. Born in Cambridge, MD, Fran moved to Newnan, GA, in 1958 with her husband Robert (Bob) P. Campbell, Jr. She remained a Newnan resident until 2014 when she moved to Charlotte, NC, where her daughters reside. Fran graduated first in her class at Hollins College in VA, where she majored in psychology. Following graduation and relocation to Atlanta, she worked in the psychiatry department of Grady Hospital and lived with dear friends on Lullwater Road. She met Bob who was attending Emory Law School. Their children loved to hear the story of how Bob got down on his knee in Lullwater Park to ask her hand in marriage. Fran and Bob were founding members of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Newnan.

In addition to serving the church for over 50 years, Fran was an active volunteer in the Newnan community, including the hospital auxiliary and Junior League. She tirelessly supported her children’s activities – multiple carpools every day, leaders of Brownie and Cub Scout troops, attendance at sports events, piano and dance recitals. She enjoyed a 50 year friendship with members of her bridge club. Fran was known for her graciousness and elegant hospitality. She also was an astute entrepreneur. For years she hosted a Christmas House market in her home. She was an owner of the Jefferson House, an antique and gift shop that served Newnan for more than 30 years. She and Bob later established an antique business and participated in antique shows throughout the eastern United States. She instilled in all of her children an appreciation for both natural beauty and fine craftsmanship. She shared with them her love of the beach and the feel of sunshine on her face. She celebrated birthdays and holidays with love, magic, and a sense of wonder.

Fran and Bob shared a strong and resilient marriage for 53 years until his death in 2008. They deeply loved their four children and seven grandchildren. Fran is survived by her children Meg, Rob, Susan, and Carter, as well as her grandchildren Will and Taylor Haynes, and Insley Haynes Warren; Dooler and Brandt Campbell; Anna Hopkins and Lily Casey.
