Frances Joseph “Frank” Winkiewicz, 93, passed away October 23, 2014 in Florence, Colorado. The son of Albin and Anna (Metisecal) Winkiewicz, he was born in Cloquet, Minnesota on October 18, 1921. A veteran of both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Coast Guard, Frank served during WWII. Frank married Velma Maybelle Porter, and together they had two children. Besides working as a machinist for 25 years, he also was a farmer. After his retirement, Frank and Velma moved to Colorado. He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed deer and elk hunting. Most important in his life, were his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Winkiewicz is survived by his daughter, Marie (Randy) Rozell of Canon City; grandchildren, Heather MacKinnon, Justin (Brooke) MacKinnon, Tina (Stephan)) Twilleger, and Josh Twilleger; and great grandchildren, Chayce Burnette, Rylan MacKinnon, Aubrie MacKinnon, and Steftyn Creighton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma in 2002; and his infant son, Frank Winkiewicz.
