Frances E. Bates, age 72 years, of Plymouth, died Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Tobey Hospital in Wareham surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Harry E. Bates Jr., and the daughter of the late Jerome and Winifred F. (Thomas) Keller. Born on May 10, 1947 in Waltham, Ma. She was raised in Watertown, and lived many years in Hanover before moving to Manomet in 1976. With a great passion for all animals, Frances volunteered with the Friends of the Plymouth Pound, at the Plymouth Animal Shelter, and formerly worked as a veterinary technician. She was known for her many animal rescues and her great love for all of them. She enjoyed sewing and making beautiful decorative candles. As the devoted matriarch and homemaker for her family, she had a great fondness for her grandchildren. Besides her loving husband Harry, who she has been married to since 1972, she will be greatly missed by her children, Michael Keller of Fayettville, NC., Timothy Bates of Kingston, Stephen Bates and his wife Julie of Plymouth, and Melissa Turgeon and her husband Michael of Plymouth, her brother Jerome Keller Jr., and his wife Helena of Harleysville, PA., and her grandchildren Jewelyanna “Andrei James” Bates and fiancé Mason Rose, Cameran Bates, Jack Turgeon and an expected baby girl “Jenna Frances Turgeon” she was anticipating in the coming months.
