Frances Black, age 85, of Algona, Iowa died on Friday August 30, 2013 at the Algona Good Samaritan Care Center in Algona. Frances Geneva Pruismann, the daughter of Frank D. and Katie (Siemens) Pruismann, was born on March 4, 1928 on a farm near Woden, Iowa. She graduated from Titonka High School in 1945. Frances was united in marriage with Hugh Black on January 20, 1968 at the First United Methodist Church in Algona. She had worked at the Rock Rapids Hospital, the Sioux Center Hospital and the Farm Directory Service in Algona before marrying in 1968. Frances enjoyed helping on the farm, raising Bichon dogs, her flowers, gardening, fishing, hosting Shriner dinners, crossword puzzles and china painting. After Hugh passed away in 1991 she moved into Algona. Frances was a very caring person and loved to help others. Left to cherish Frances’s memory are her children, Louise Koerner and her husband Jon of Columbia, S.C., James Black and his wife Sheila of Algona, and Carolyn Fisher and her husband Tom of Burnsville, MN; six grandchildren; three step grandchildren; brothers, Marvin Pruismann of Sioux Center, Franklin (Sandra) Pruismann, Robert (Gladys) Pruismann and Kenneth (Mary) Pruismann all of Blairsburg; two sisters, Janette (John) Minzenmeyer of Anamosa and Kathryn (Tom) Roberts of Marion; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Harold Pruismann; a grandson, Porter Black; and two sisters, Luella DeBoer and Arlene Albert.
