Frances A. Stevens, 88, passed away on August 23, 2016, surrounded by her loving family at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Frances was born on September 5,1927in Little Piney, Arkansas to the late Claude and Merle (McCracken) Sears. She married Lawrence Steve Stevens on July 1, 1950. He preceded her in death on February 3, 2012.

Frances worked as a bookkeeper for the family-owned Shell and Union 76 stations in Grant County and also worked for RCA. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Gas City where she served in the church choir.

Frances held many positions in the church ranging from Deaconess to Elder Emeritus. She taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and was a past CWF President and held many other offices. She loved doing her crosswords and word searches. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed quilting. She also loved gardening and cooking. Most of all, she loved spending time with family.

Frances is survived by her daughter,EydieLou (Martin) Day, Gas City, IN; son, Michael (Iva) Stevens, Bowdon, GA; and daughter-in-law, Cynthia Stevens, Stockton, CA; brother, Carmon Sears, Marion, IN; sister, Betty (Joe Bob) Vetor, Mountain Home, AR; 5 grandchildren, Sarah Marci (Gregg) Todd, Anthony Stevens, Matthew Stevens, Nicholas (Amy) Stevens, and Elizabeth Day; and 5 great-grandchildren, Sabriana Bri, Stephen Todd, Anthony A.J., Darrian, and Madeline Stevens, Special niece Peggy (Jim) Faust, Middletown, OH.; and special friend, Jewelene A.J. Mann, Jonesboro, IN. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Merle Sears; husband, Lawrence (Steve) Stevens; son, Joe D. Stevens; 2 sisters, Irma Arins burgand Evelyn Edith Taylor; and granddaughter, Mieshell Renee Stevens.
