Fortunata S. Arucan passed away on September 19, 2020 at the age of 94 in Alameda.  Fortunata was the beloved wife of Bill S. Arucan of 40+ years.

Loving mother of son Bill Victor Arucan and his wife Lynn, of Alameda.  Only daughter of the late Ciriaco and Josefa Savellano.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Fortunata was born on May 26, 1926 in the Philippines.  She came to the United States on February 8, 1960.  Her lawful admission was at Honolulu, Hawaii.  Her naturalization was issued on July 16, 1965.

Her highest level of education was doctorate from the University of Santo Tomas, Philippines and was a certified medical doctor.  She worked as a laboratory technologist at Alameda Hospital and Highland Hospital for 20+ years.  Fortunata was an active member of Catholic charities and island organizations including St. Albert’s The Great Women’s Guild and Legion of Mary, and American Legion Auxiliary.

She was one of the founding donors to the opening of Christ The Light Cathedral in Oakland.
