Floyd Weishaar, age 89, of Algona, Iowa died on Saturday August 2, 2014 at his home. Floyd John Weishaar, son of Albert and Anna May (Heinen) Weishaar, was born on February 7, 1925 in Milo, Iowa. Floyd enlisted into the Army and served during World War II Battle of the Bulge. He was very proud to serve his country and was honored with a Bronze Star.
On September 25, 1948, Floyd was united in marriage to Dorothy Rurup. The couple made their home in Algona and raised their three children. In Floyd’s earlier working years, he served as a policeman in Algona while his father was the Chief of Police. He later worked at the Power Plant, managed the Texaco & Superior 400 service stations and finished his working career with Morgan Sanitation. Floyd was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church and VFW Post #2541. He was also a member of Country Good Timers. He enjoyed yard work and working with his son Rick. Floyd was a strong two time cancer survivor.
Left to cherish Floyd’s memory is his wife Dorothy of 65 years; son Gary (Pat) Weishaar of Algona, son Rick (Jean) Weishaar of Algona and daughter Sandi Schadendorf of Algona; seven grandchildren: Travis, Cory, Jamie, Krystal, Heather, Shauna and Shelbi; seven great grandchildren; four sisters, Gladys Stalzer of Texas, Pauline (Carl) Peter of Algona, Geraldine Weishaar of Algona and Bertha Engstler of Seattle, Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Ed and Carl Weishaar and sisters Theresa Rudisill and Dorothy Warehime.
