Floyd E. Oliver, 86, Anderson, died September 30, 2009 at Alexandria Care Center after an extended illness. He was born July 9, 1923 in Shelbyville, Indiana, and had lived in this area since 1951. A graduate of Waldren High School, Floyd served in the United States Army during World War II with the C.O.G. 187 Paraglider Division.

He worked as a pipe fitter with General Motors, retiring in 1975. His memberships include Shelbyville American Legion, U.A.W., Eagles and Redman’s Lodges.

Survivors include his daughter, Brenda & husband, James Walker of Alexandria, sons, Terry & wife, Nancy Slusser of Anderson, Larry Oliver & wife, Beverly of Bakersfield, CA, and Steven Oliver of Alexandria; sister, Betty Holton of Florida; grandchildren, Jason Walker & wife, Allie, Terry Slusser Jr. & wife, Melinda, Jeremy Oliver, and Marcie Slusser Jared & husband, Tim; great grandchildren, Matthew & Melissa Oliver, Camy Brown, Miranda & Paul Jared and Alex Walker and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, whom he married in August of 1950, Marjorie Jean Gahimer Oliver; parents, George & Ellen Horn Oliver; and eight brothers and sisters.
