Floyd E. Armstrong, 60, of rural Virginia, IL died Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville, IL.
He was born November 24, 1956 in Jacksonville, the son of Kenneth Eugene “Gene” and Shirley Ann Crawford Armstrong.
He is survived by his mother, Shirley of Virginia; a son Kenneth D. “Kenny” Armstrong of Virginia; a grandson, Teagen Armstrong of Pittsfield; two brothers, Jim Armstrong (Terry) of Virginia and Mike Armstrong (Teresa) of Ashland; his life partner, Sharon Edwards, her daughters, Salina Walton and Holly Wallis, and her grandchildren, Annika Stidman, David Wallis, James Wallis, and Sara Wallis, all of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
A 1974 graduate of Virginia High School, Floyd worked in the Texas oil fields before returning to the area to assist with the family farm. He later worked for Bishop’s Harley-Davidson Repair Shop in Springfield and Capitol Records/EMI in Jacksonville.
His passion was riding, repairing, and customizing motorcycles. He was a dedicated member of Bro Riders Motorcycle Club for over 30 years. In his spare time, Floyd owned and operated Red’s Repair Shop which provided service to his many Harley rider friends.
