Floyd D. Cotton, Jr. 81, of Newington, died on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014. He was born in Hartford to the late Irene (Buckley) and Floyd D. Cotton, Sr. the beloved husband of the late Rachel (Hatfield, Fisch) Cotton, he was a Newington resident for 30 years. Floyd honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a proud member of the American Legion in Newington. “Mr. Cotton” as known to his students, was a welding instructor with the Dept. of Vocational Education. Floyd was active in the Newington Senior Center and enjoyed Country and Western Line Dancing with his wife and group of friends. Left to mourn his passing are his children: Jeffrey Cotton and his wife, Sheila of Georgia, Darryl Cotton and his wife, Gloria of Bristol, Therese Cotton and her wife, Lucinda of Newington, Steven Cotton and his wife, Kim of Iowa, Kevin Cotton of Arizona, Christopher Cotton and his wife, Songae of South Korea; step-son, Barry Fisch and his wife Cindy; brothers: Bruce Cotton and his wife Leslie of Southington, Keith Cotton of East Windsor; sisters-in-law, Janet Cotton of Georgia and Margaret Cotton, of Virginia. Floyd also leaves many grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he loved dearly. He was predeceased by his brothers: Norman, Philip and David Cotton.
