Florinda Menendez, 91, of Elkins, formerly of Spelter, WV departed this life on Monday evening March 6, 2009 at the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center in Elkins. Florinda was born May 1, 1917 and is the daughter of the late Ramon Muniz and Mary Prieto Muniz. She was married to Jose “Pep” Menendez who also preceded her in death on 2/28/1973. Surviving are one son Raymond Menendez and wife Frankie of Elkins, WV; two Grandsons Kevin Menendez and wife Heidi of Ormsby, PA and Jeffery Menendez of Elkins, WV; three Great-grandchildren Ashley Lantz and husband Evan of Buckhannon, Ty and Tori Menendez of Ormsby, PA; one Great-Great-granddaughter Sophie Lantz of Buckhannon, WV; one brother Roy Muniz of Spelter, WV; one sister Mary Helsel of Parkersburg, WV; one brother-in-law Louie Menendez and wife Louise of Shinnston, WV. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and husband were three brothers; Joe Muniz, Henry Muniz, and Jimmy Muniz; two sisters Ann Malins, and Ramona Roop; and one grandson, Michael Menendez. Florinda attended school in Spelter, WV and was a homemaker. She also was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Spelter Vol. Fire Dept and a member of the ladies Auxiliary at the V.F.W. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.
