Florence Strope, 88, of Niles, MI, passed away 10:00 p.m., Thursday, October 20, 2005, in Healthwin Specialized Care Facility, South Bend, IN. Florence was born on June 7, 1917 in Chicago, IL, to John and Julia (Stellemach) Pugesek, and had lived in Niles for 20 years, coming from Hudson Lake, IN. On April 17, 1943, in Chicago, IL, as Florence Pugesek, she married Willard H. Strope, who preceded her in death in 1960. Also preceding her in death were a daughter, Joan Stankiewicz; a son, Jack H. Strope; two brothers; and one sister. Survivors include five daughters, Charlotte (Mark) Fraid of Rolling Prairie, IN, Carol (Tony) Garcia of Phoenix, AZ, Rose Bellegante of Hudson Lake, IN, Betty (Jim) Hicks of Brookville, IN and Josie Emery of Niles, MI; two sons, James Strope of South Bend, IN and Ken (Shelley) Strope of Niles, MI; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren.
