Florence Payne-Kolobuchowski, 80, of Bridgman, Michigan died Sunday, February 23, 2014 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, Michigan.

Florence was born September 20, 1933 in Three Oaks, Michigan to Raymond and Mildred (Clark) Johnson. She grew into a determined woman who worked hard and raised her family. She tried, and succeeded, at a variety of things from making homemade lollypops to upholstering a car. Florence could bake just about anything and sewed and created many beautiful things.

Florence enjoyed bowling, playing cards and KENO, and living life her own way.

Survivors include her children, Ronald (Gloria) Payne of Baroda, Michigan; Laurie Payne of Three Oaks and Michael Payne of Sawyer, Michigan; grandchildren, Montessa, Monique and Jermey; 11 great grandchildren; sisters Blanche “Lorraine” Shrimsher of Buchanan, Michigan; Evelyn Simmonin of Plymouth, Indiana; Donna Lintner of Three Oaks; Barbara Griegel of Ludington, Michigan; Millie Rambo of Stevensville, Michigan; brother, Donald Johnson of Crete, Illinois, and by the many patient and compassionate caregivers she had at Lakeland Hospital, making sure she was comfortable in her last days. Her brothers, Raymond Johnson Jr and Dennis Strefling preceded her in death.
