Florence J. (Slomian) Kepper, 84, of Peru, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru. Mrs. Kepper was born June 7, 1932 in LaSalle to Frank and Clara (Pyszka) Slomian.

She married Thomas E. Kepper on October 6, 1951, in Spring Valley. Mrs. Kepper was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Peru where she was active in the Women’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and was a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher for 16 years. She was on the Advisory and Executive Boards of the Housing Authority for LaSalle County and served as Commissioner of the LaSalle County Housing Board for several years.

Survivors include one son, Raymond Kepper; two daughters, Kathy (Mike) Shipp of Pampa, TX, and Linda (Steve) Passini of Dalzell; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Siebert of Las Vegas, NV, and Elaine Zimmer of Peru; one brother, George Slomian of Kirkland, WA; nieces, nephews, and cousins. Also, surviving are her extended family, Mike Shipp, Karen (Steve) Lashey and Laurie Jo (Steve Vela) Shipp.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 47 years, Thomas on October 12, 1998; one sister, Marie “Suzie” Prybylinski and two brothers, Francis “Pat” and Raymond Slomian.
