To be absent from the body is to be with the Lord. And so it was with Mrs. Florence Hollaway Hyde on the evening of November 7, 2015 when she quietly left this life to be enveloped in the love of the God who created her and in whom she had total faith. She was born into a humble family in Coweta County on March 12, 1924. Her parents, Joe Wheeler and Alma Jones Hollaway preceded her in death. The devastating drought in Georgia had brought farming to a standstill and Florence’s family, like many others, found work in the textile mills that were being started. In 1942, Florence married Thomas Wayne Hyde and they had been married for 47 years at the time of his death in 1989. Florence was a very active member of Macedonia Baptist Church since 1944. As the years passed, she enjoyed being a part of “The Young at Heart” as long as her health permitted. She was deeply loved and cared for by her children Lynda Hyde Eidson and her husband Dr. Rodger H. Eidson, Sr. and her son, Tommy Hyde and his wife Jane. She was a special grandmother to Rodger H. Eidson, Jr. and his wife Ellen, Judson T. Eidson, Benjamin T. Eidson and his wife Kelley, Jacie Schofield and her husband Skipper and Stephanie Phillips. Her great grandchildren are Oceana Muse Eidson, Jared Hipp, Gavin Phillips, Grayson Schofield, Taylor Schofield and Carlie Schofield.
