Florence H. Brothers, 100, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully of natural causes Wednesday, March 1, at her home.

She was born July 31, 1916, in Constantine, Mich., to the late Samuel and Hazel Whitmore.

She later married Ezra W. “Woody” Brothers in Constantine on Oct. 11, 1940.

He preceded her in death along with sisters Dorothy Bycroft, Marian Rentfrow, Ethel Ruggles and brother Robert Whitmore.

Surviving are her children, Karen Bender and Bruce (Marcia) Brothers, both of Elkhart, grandchildren Jeff (Laurie) Bender of Fishers and Abi (Edel) Estrella of Lebanon and great-granddaughter Kayle Bender of Fishers.

Florence worked many years in the manufacturing industry as a secretary and office manager but served as a riveter for the war effort at the Constantine Munitions Plant during the second World War.

She enjoyed reading, playing cards, working crossword puzzles and playing on her computer.

She also liked playing Wii bowling with her family.
