Florence (Drezek) Samek, RN, 94, of New Britain, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2015. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward J. Samek Sr. Florence was a lifelong New Britain resident, a graduate of NBHS and New Britain General Hospital Nursing School. She was employed by NBGH as a maternity nurse for over 25 years and then later as a nurse in the New Britain school system. Florence was a member of the New Britain Senior Center and loved line-dancing. An adoring mother and sister, she is survived by her beloved daughter, Kathleen O’Brien of Southington; sisters Helen Dziados of New Britain and Mildred Wojchowski of Canterbury; sister-in-law Rosalie Samek, also of New Britain; as well as several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her dear friend Helen and devoted neighbor George. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her loving son and son-in-law, Edward J. Samek, Jr. and Barry O’Brien; her sisters Mary Klepacki, Hedwig and Jean Drezek.
