Flora Jane West, 84, of Galesburg, died on Monday, June 6, 2016, 5:02 PM, at Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville. Flora was born November 7, 1931 in Chandlerville, Illinois. She was the daughter of Lewis Johnson and Violet (Hohimer) Johnson. She attended high school in Bath Illinois. She married Willis Shaw in 1950, together they had four children. She married Harry West on February 20, 1975.
She then met her long -time companion of 30 years, Ralph Hensley. Flora is survived by her companion, Ralph; her son Keith Shaw of Indiana; daughter, Tway Curry of Florida; daughter-in-law, Karen Shaw of Canton; two sisters, Lois Russell of Havana and Shirley Hall of Athens; one brother, Leon (Mary) Johnson of Bath; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Doug Shaw and Junior Shaw; and a sister, Sue Felles. Flora was a member of First Baptist Church, Galesburg. She loved gardening, cooking, and hunting morel mushrooms. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Flora was a very kind hearted and generous soul, who loved to give away her baked goods and items she bought to those in need. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
