Felicita Torruella, 87, of East Hartford, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, December 19, 2015. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Eulojio and Justina (Davila) Torruella, she was a longtime Hartford resident and a member of Sacred Heart Church in Hartford. She was considered a mom to all of the neighborhood kids. They would gather around her dining room table while she cooked, playing games that she had for them there. Felicita was an excellent seamstress, sewing all of her children’s clothes. She would buy her girls romance novels and magazines, always taking care of everyone around her. A loving and devoted mother, she leaves her nine children, Roberto Perez of Windsor, Carmen Montanez of Hartford, Rosa Ramos of West Hartford, William Perez and his wife Toni of Bloomfield, Miriam Hernandez of Hartford, Nelson Rivera of Hartford, Manuel Rivera of East Windsor, Richard Rivera of West Hartford, and Edna Desormiers and her husband Richard of New Britain, 23 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She also leaves her three sisters, Guillermina Arroyo of West Hartford, Digna Munoz and Emerita Perez both of East Hartford. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Becky Ramos and by six siblings.
