FELICIANA “CHANA” CALDERON, 93, a longtime resident of Lordsburg passed away Tuesday May 18, 2021 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family. Chana was born June 9, 1927 in Durango, Chihuahua, Mexico to Elsidero and Guadalupe (Hernandez) Escobedo. She married the love of her life Heliodoro Calderon on September 24, 1950 and together they had 6 children. She and her family moved to Cotton City, NM in 1960 and later in 1971 they moved to Lordsburg, NM.  Chana worked as a maid and housekeeper in local motels and family households.  She was a strong proud woman who loved to cook and took great pride in caring for her family. She also was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

She is survived by her son, Hector Calderon of Lordsburg; daughters, Teresa Hunter, Bertha Calderon, Sylvia Alba, Angela Calderon, Francisca Calderon, and Monica McDaniel all of Lordsburg; sisters, Guadalupe Escobedo and Martha Escobedo Hernandez; brothers Fidel and Francisco Escobedo; 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband Heliodoro Calderon, her parents, and 4 siblings.
