Merle “Fay” Kemp was born November 27, 1942 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Merle Roy and Luella (Tadlock) Kemp. He grew up on a farm in Hansen and moved to Twin Falls at a young age. He attended school in both Hansen and Twin Falls. He always had a hard work ethic and started selling newspapers at age 12 at the Perrine Hotel. He was never without a job after that until his retirement. He worked in many fields including as a welder, carpenter, builder, customer farmer, restaurant owner, and dollar store owner to name a few. He married Laura Stephens on March 10, 1967 in Twin Falls, Idaho. The marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple.
