Fannie M. Garrett, the daughter of Ernest V. and Mae Albery Moon, was born May 5, 1913 in. New Providence Iowa. She was a graduate of New Providence High School and of the Iowa State Teachers College. Fannie taught first and second grade in Whitten, Iowa for four years but the she found Roy F. Garrett.
On June 27,1937, Fannie was united in Marriage to Roy F. Garrett in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. They Moved to Winterset, Iowa where Roy worked in the local hardware store and Fannie worked at home. In February of 1940 they moved to Newton, Iowa where they bought the Peterson Hardware Store. Together they owned and operated the Garrett Hardware store until retiring on August 23, 1983. After retiring they spent most of the year in Newton, but the winters in Arizona until 1995.
Fannie was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Harry Moon; and her two sisters; Helen Moon Shores and Ruth Moon Dooley. Those Left to honor her memory are her husband, Roy; her brother, Paul Moon of newton; and her nieces and nephews.
