Franklin LeRoy Schott the second son of seven children of Franklin and Margaret Grace (Reed) Schott was born April 21, 1918 in rural Nuckolls County; near Bostwick, Nebraska. He departed this life on Tuesday September 19, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Center in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 99 years.
LeRoy was united in marriage to Reta Marie Williams on September 21, 1938 at Saratoga, WY. This union was blessed with the birth of four children: Alvin, Richard, Barbara and Royce.
In May of 1945 LeRoy was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving during WWII. After the birth of three children LeRoy left the army and the couple moved back to Nebraska, where he was a mechanic and car salesman for Warren Hall’s Chrysler and John Deere dealership. Son Royce was born in Nelson, LeRoy later owned and operated Schott Oil with his oldest son Alvin. In 1980 LeRoy sold his share of the business to Alvin and retired. In his retirement LeRoy mowed the parks and property for the city of Nelson for 27 years.
Reta and LeRoy loved to travel and fish, making many trips around the country in their camper. They spent countless evenings playing cards with friends and relatives.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Reta of 65 years on April 22, 2004, brothers Ted, Harold and infant brother Lyvene.
Survivors include his son Alvin Schott and wife Judy of Nelson, NE; Richard Schott and wife Anita of Brookville, KS; Royce Schott and wife Brenda of Nelson, NE; daughter Barbara Fitchett of Lincoln, NE; 11 grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; brother Gene Schott of Rossville, KS; sisters Sara Harvey of Superior, NE and Charlotte Adams of Warren, MI, nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends.
