Ezra Alton Raper

Al was a friend, uncle, grandfather, and dad. He died peacefully at his home in Fort Walton Beach, Florida on September 5th, 2015.
Ezra Alton Raper was born to Ezra I. and Jane Raper on February 18, 1935 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. He joined the Navy on May 1952 and was a Combat Veteran aboard the USS Wisconsin. After an honorable discharge from the Navy in 1956, he attended Rocky Mount School of Commerce receiving a BA in Business and a Masters in Accounting. Dad worked for Sears and was transferred to Fort Walton Beach in 1963 to help open the new store. He later worked at W.T. Grants and eventually opened his business that he built up from a hobby – AL RAPER Heating & Air Conditioning. When he retired, you could find him at home building miniature ships or working on his beloved clocks.
Al is predeceased by his parents, sister – Irene Raper Bell and brother – Ray Raper, all from Rocky Mount. Left to cherish his memories are his brother – Ashley Raper, the mother of his children – Barbara Carson Kent, his life-long companion – Lela McGlynn, his son – Tim Raper (Lia), his daughter – Katherine Raper Dalton (John), his granddaughters – Elizabeth Ann Dalton, Caryl Eleanor Dalton, and Yannie Diane Theo Dalton.
