Ewell “Pete†Sanford Conway, 74, of 218 Flintwood Drive, Bassett, VA died Monday, December 27, 2010 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville/Henry County, Martinsville, VA. He was born on December 3, 1936 in Rocky Mount, VA to the late Sanford B. Conway and Virginia Dunman Conway. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, James T. Wyatt. Mr. Conway attended Mount Bethel United Methodist Church and served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked for R. P. Thomas as a mechanic/truck driver and was in the trucking business for over 45 years. Surviving are his two sons, Mark D. Conway of Ridgeway, VA and David L. Conway and wife, Kathy Conway of Newark, OH; a sister, Iris C. Horton and husband, Dean Horton of Sanford, NC; a brother, Wilson E. Conway and wife, Verdie Conway of Bassett, VA; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and special friend, Selma Sater.
