Evelyn Pring Wells Addison, 97, a force of light and life who guided her family with love, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 29, 2021 in Anderson, Indiana.

Evelyn, the third of four siblings, was born on March 3, 1924 to parents John Russell Pring and Velma Jane Pate Pring, in Madison County, Indiana. Evelyn grew up on a farm in Mechanicsburg, Indiana, and believed it was the reason she remained a hard worker her entire life. She was a proud alumnus of Cadiz High School and was the last surviving member of her high school class. Each year, she joined other alumni from Cadiz High School where she proudly wore her purple and white and sang the school song and reminisced. Shortly after high school, Evelyn began a lifelong career with Delco Remy in Anderson. She met her husband, Reid, when he drove the bus that took her to work each day. In 1945, they married. They had two children, Charlotte Dianne Symmes (Mike) and Stephen Duane Wells (Cynthia). Together, Evelyn and Reid enjoyed raising their children and supporting their passions. She was one of the first basketball season ticket holders at Highland High School. She loved a good plaid outfit and visiting with others at Friday night games. After her husband, Reid, died, Evelyn reconnected with her former Cadiz High School classmate, James Marvin Addison. They married in 1983 and launched an adventure that took them from Cadiz to Florida and back before Jim died. Evelyn believed “if you are going to do something, do it right.”

She loved to volunteer and be part of a community. After she retired, she volunteered as if it were her full-time job. Cadiz Lions Club. Pink Ladies at St. Johns and Ball Memorial hospital. Cadiz High School Alumni Club. Evelyn never met a stranger. Her passion was bringing people together and usually over a great meal.

In addition to her daughter, Charlotte Wells Symmes of Anderson, and daughter in law, Cynthia R. Wells of Charleston, South Carolina.

Evelyn is survived by her brother, Elmer Pring of Anderson and her sister in law, Joanne Pring, as well as five grandchildren, Michelle Symmes Boyd (Tom), Deborah Symmes Pope (Greg), Stephanie Wells Butler (Thorn), Ryan Reid Wells (Mandi) and Kristen Symmes Bixler (Justin) and ten great grandchildren she adored. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who remained close to her throughout her life. Her love for her family was unmatched.
