Evelyn May Miller, 92, of Gilmore City, went home to be with the Lord on August 20, 2020, at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital, Humboldt, IA, surrounded by family. Evelyn May Cirks, the daughter of Dick and Tena (Peters) Cirks, was born on March 05, 1928 in Gilmore City, IA. She graduated in 1947 from Iowa School for the Deaf. On May 12, 1951, Evelyn was united in marriage with Ernest Miller at Saint Paul Luther’s Church in Fort Dodge, IA. They began their lives together in Cedar Rapids, IA, where the couple was blessed with two children, Timothy and Lizabette. The family moved back to Evelyn’s family farm in rural Gilmore City in 1960. Evelyn lived a lifetime full of love surrounded by her family. She spent many years on her family farm as a homemaker, and then relocated to Gilmore City where she was often found to be spending time with her grandchildren. Evelyn was an avid member of the Iowa Association of the Deaf and North Central Club of the Deaf where she loved seeing her friends. Evelyn could always be found with a smile on her face and was bound to make anyone laugh. She had a strong faith in Jesus and was a member of the Faith Community Church and also loved to attend church services for the deaf in Fort Dodge. Evelyn is survived by her children Tim (Natalie) Miller of Gilmore City, IA and Liz (John) Matthews of Gilmore City, IA; four grandchildren:  Willie (Amanda), Dirk, Holly, and Jacy; and two great-grandchildren Millie Lu and Ernie. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Ernest in 2004; sister Viola; brother-in-law Clarence; parents; granddaughter Heitina; and beloved dog Baby.
