Evelyn M. Hakes, 83, of Linden, passed away Monday, October 28, 2019 at Valley View Rehab and Nursing Center, Montoursville. Surviving is her loving and devoted husband of 52 years, Hubert C. Hakes.
Born January 30, 1936, in Jersey Shore, she was a daughter of the late Clinton and Sarah (Frank) McHenry.
Evelyn was employed at Shop-Vac for many years and retired in 2002. She was a member of United Commercial Travelers up until early this year and enjoyed helping individuals with disabilities and supporting local charitable programs. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Evelyn was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed sewing and loved to do ceramics. Most of all Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, and Grammy.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons David Brooks (Carol) and Brett Hakes (Rosemarie), both of Linden, a step son, Brian Keith Hakes, of Linden, step daughter, Ronna Hill (Mike), of Old Lycoming Twp., five grandchildren, MaKayla Hakes, Chuck Brink (Crystal), Brianna Hakes, Eric Hill (Autumn), and Erin Shaffer (Chris), five great-grandchildren, Addison, Gage, and Emmalynn Hill and Kolby and Sophie Shaffer, and a brother, Kenneth McHenry, of McElhattan.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Steven Brooks, three brothers, Lewis, Robert, and Danny McHenry, and a sister, Shirley Horn.
