Evelyn Jean (Mezzo) Mercede, 86, of Ridgefield, longtime resident of Norwalk, died peacefully on Sunday, January 23, 2022. She was the loving wife of the late Philip J. Mercede.
Mrs. Mercede was born in Norwalk, CT on December 25, 1935; a daughter of the late William Stephen and Irene (Wargo) Mezzo. She attended Norwalk Schools and graduated from Norwalk High School in 1955. She married Philip Mercede in 1958, and they had two children, William and Darlene.
A Ridgefield resident since 1973, Mrs. Mercede was a retired Computer Systems Specialist for SNET. She also worked as a clerk in the Town of Ridgefield Tax Collector’s Office. Mrs. Mercede was a parishioner of St.
Mrs. Mercede is survived by her daughter, Darlene Casazza and her husband, Albert, her 6 granddaughters, Brittany Tranchida, and her husband, Adam, Danielle Featherstone, Randi Featherstone, Nicole Mercede, Alexandra Mercede, and Carly Mercede, her grandson, Philip John Tranchid, her sister, Billie Mezzo Blakney as well as her sister in law, Terry Mercede, her brother in law Daniel Mercede and his wife, Ginny and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Mercede was predeceased by her son William and her sister, Betty Mezzo Dinio.
