Evelyn Etherington, age 95, of Algona, died on Sunday January 20, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Algona. Evelyn Gertrude Anderson, the daughter of Rev. Gustav and Carrie Eleanore (Hanson) Anderson, was born on January 29, 1917 in Newport, North Dakota. She graduated from Dresser High School in 1936 and attended Northwestern Bible College in Minneapolis. On July 8, 1950, Evelyn was united in marriage with Donald Etherington in Dresser, Wisconsin at Evelyn’s parent’s home. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School and had been active in the church choir. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary. Left to cherish Evelyn’s memory are her children, Darlene Goodrich and her husband Tom of Algona and Dave Etherington and his wife Betty of Humboldt; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Eleanore Vogel of St. Paul, MN and Adele Cupit of Danville, CA; a brother, Bert Anderson of Minneapolis, MN; and three sister-in-laws, Leona Abbas of Algona, Arlene Matthews of Helena, MT and Harriet Anderson of Prattsburg, NY. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald in 2002; two brothers, David and Urbin Anderson; and a sister, Marvel Haas.
