Evelyn Christy Rico, born in Oakland, CA on August 11, 1950. Resident of Richmond, CA. Graduated from Encinal High School.  Survived by her parents, Luis and Irma Rico; her siblings, Louie Rico (Isabel), Elma Rico Kastning (Floyd) and Veronica Rico (Sean Loughran-Smith); her treasured nephews and niece, Roman (Carley) and Ryan (Kayla Jean) Rico, Benjamin and Emilia Kastning; her grandnephews and grandniece, Cayden, Brody and Mariah Rico.  Evelyn also leaves her loving aunts and a multitude of cousins throughout the United States and Mexico.

Evelyn was truly “larger than life” and her incredible wit and sense of humor continues to bring laughter to many. She had a genuine love for Motown music and would teach all her cousins to dance. Her energy enabled her to win the Presidential Award for Physical Fitness during her senior year in high school. Evelyn’s sense of spirit and justice led her to march with Cesar Chavez, and to be involved in the Native American occupation of Alcatraz. While her primary occupation was in the construction and painting industry, she was also a skilled craftswoman, from building and restoring furniture to designing and creating a variety of curios. Evelyn also had love and affection for animals and she would help the strays in her neighborhood. She was a deeply spiritual woman. May her God and angels bless her, and all those she held in her generous heart; and may the memories of her help  fill the void in ours.
