Evelyn B. Smith, of 2 Smith Farm Rd., Cromwell and also of Westbrook, beloved wife of Richard A. Smith, passed away early Thursday morning, April 10th at home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on January 28, 1934 and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rosa (Ruffino) Barone. In her early years, Evelyn worked in the Insurance Business and later was the Office Manager in the family owned Rackliffe Oil Company. Besides her husband, Evelyn will be greatly missed by all who loved her, especially her three loving children; two sons, Richard A. Smith, Jr. of Clearwater, FL, Jeffrey J. Smith of Alpharetta, GA, and her daughter, Sharon Emmett and her favorite son in law, Michael, of East Hampton. She is also survived by her loving sister, Santina Branciforte of Middletown and two brother in laws, Angelo Braniciforte and Joseph Tine; nine loving grandchildren, Ashley Smith and Richard A. Smith, III of Clearwater, FL, Rhiannon Smith of Narragansett, RI, Alexandra Smith, Austin Smith, Katherine Smith and Kristin Smith of Alpharetta, GA, Caitlin Emmett and Michelle Emmett of East Hampton and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Evelyn was predeceased by her brother Carmelo Barone, and three sisters, Anna Carta, Rosemarie Tine and Lucy Milici.
