Evelyn Alice Sine Trumbauer Lewis, 100, died Sat., Oct. 3, 2015, in LifeQuest Nursing Center, Quakertown. Wife of the late Robert O. Lewis, she was born in Quakertown, daughter of the late Alvin C. and Carrie (Ehrline) Sine. As a teen, she left school to work in her father’s grocery store, typical of her generation. Her math and people skills were an asset for the rest of her life. Later, she worked at QMart, and then at American Olean Tile. In 1973, she earned her GED, finally accomplishing her goal to graduate. While raising four active girls, she was an expert seamstress, cook, and a resource for life experiences. In 1977, she retired, married, and moved to Arizona to enjoy a busy life. Sadly, she was widowed in 1980. In 1988, she returned to Quakertown and her beloved family. She joined the Senior Center and helped form a band known as The Impossibles. Even in her 80s and 90s, she performed with the band at nursing homes, entertaining the “old people” until retiring in 2011. She was an active member of the First United Church of Christ, Quakertown. She loved and supported her large family all her long life. She is survived by daughters Elaine (husband Ted Rentzheimer) of Hellertown, Virginia (husband Sid Arana) of Quakertown, Janet (husband Kenneth Frey) of Milford Square, and Barbara Aird (partner Tony Michael) of Quakertown; grandchildren Barbara Thompson, Deborah Barber, Daniel Yaich, Stephanie Kline, Abigail Bankert, and Susan Ward; great grandchildren Kiersten, Breanna, Shannon, Shawn, Allison, and Allisin; and three great great grandchildren. She is predeceased by a grandson, Robert Christman; sisters Ethel Andres, Jacqueline Levy, Catherine Guentensperger, and Louise Bartholomew; brothers Earl, Lester, Lawrence, Ralston, and William.
