Eunice died on January 1, 2013, at the age of 84 in Seward, Nebraska. Eunice was born January 28, 1928 at Shelton, NE to Louis and Irene Hansen. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Shelton, NE. Eunice graduated from Shelton High School in 1945. Following graduation she taught at a country school in Hall County for one year – 8 grades in one room and 18 children. Because the school did not have running water or heat, Eunice had to carry in water and wood to build a fire. On June 2, 1946, Eunice married Alfred Suhr at Zion Lutheran Church in Shelton, NE. Alfred and Eunice then began farming with Alfred’s parents in Seward County. Eunice had a reputation as a great baker and baked cinnamon rolls and bread almost every Saturday. To her grandkids these rolls were known as “Grandma Rolls”. Eunice began driving school buses for Seward Public Schools in 1970 and was very dedicated to her students for 25 years. She also was a substitute driver for Utica Public Schools (Centennial) for several years. Eunice was a caring housewife and mother. She not only worked in the home, but also helped with farm chores, gardening, raising chickens, and selling eggs and cream, etc. She was a member of St. John Ladies Aid and a faithful church member. She was also a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Staplehurst, NE. Eunice is survived by her husband, Alfred Suhr of Seward, NE; daughter, Carol (Dennis) Ochsner of Laurel, NE; son, Gordon (Jennifer) Suhr of Valentine, NE; twin Sons, Gale (Kirsten) Suhr of Elkhorn, NE and Gary (Melanie) Suhr of Seward, NE; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne (Marjorie) Hansen, Staplehurst, NE; grandchildren,David Ochsner of Omaha, NE, Sara Ochsner of Cedar Rapids, IA, Evan Suhr of Doniphan, NE, Jake and Molly Suhr of Seward, NE, Jarod, Ryan, Christian and Adelynn Suhr of Elkhorn, NE; nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her Father, Louis who was killed on April 25, 1938, by a team of runaway horses when she was 10 years old. She was also preceded in death by her Mother, Irene Hansen; sisters and brothers-in-law, Twila and Fred Greckel, Delores and Ed Schlager.
