Eunice May Craw Ellsworth

Palmyra/Watervliet, NY: Daughter of William Arthur and Esther June Barron Craw of Palmyra, NY, was born on January 26, 1921 and died on October 26, 2017 in her apartment in Watervliet, NY.

Eunice worked as a stenographer in the Garlock offic on Canal Strreet before marrying James B. Ellsworth, Jr., also of the Palmyra/Farmington, NY area. Together they raised four children on the Ellsworth family dairy farm; James B. Ellsworth III, Roger A., Gerald L. and Karen S.  Eunice was a homemaker but also sold Avon, worked with Marty Hanson in the Palmyra-Macedon Central High School library, was a secretary for Mr. Hutt the Superintendent of the Palmyra-Macedon Central School District.  Furthermore, Eunice learned how to drive a school bus and did so for the district, was a wheelchair attendant on a BOCES school bus.  Prior to retiring at age 74, Eunice worked as an aide in a nursing home.  Eunice enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting, painting and making dolls.  One of the local newspapers ran a story about Eunice and her work with dolls.

Eunice was raised in the Palmyra Methodist Church and would later join the Farmington Friends Meeting congregation when she married.  For a time she lived in Marion, NY and attended Heritage Baptist Church located on Route 21. Recently, Eunice has lived in Watervliet, NY and became a member of the Newtonville United Methodist Church.
