She graduated from Anaconda High School in 1939 and then went on to attend Butte Business College.

As the country was engaged in war, Eugenie traveled to Richmond, California to work at the Kaiser Shipbuilding Corporation. She felt a need to continue to serve our country by joining the Navy (WAVES) in 1943 and was stationed in Washington, D.C. at the rank of Yeoman First Class. She served until her discharge in 1945.

Eugenie met and married Walter F. Yurek, who was also serving in the Navy and was a World War II Veteran and survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Cleveland, Ohio was home after their marriage in 1945 until retirement, and a dream to return to Montana was realized in 1982 when they settled in Bigfork.

Eugenie was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Regina Grus, her husband, Walter, and her sister, Anita Young.

She is survived by her three children – daughter, Regina M. Norrish of Canton, Georgia, and two sons, Craig, Bigfork and Daniel, Kalispell; grandchildren – Kristen (David) Faust, Danielle (James) Reier Hill, and Emily (Sam) Naiman; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Eugenie was a very kind and loving mother, grandmother and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
