Eugene L. Saragnese, age 80 of Burlington, N.J. went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Samaritan Hospice of Mt. Holly. Born and raised in Burlington, N.J., son of Daniel & Theresa Saragnese, he is survived by his beloved wife Livia (Nucci), three children; daughter Michele & husband Mark Merlino, son Eugene & wife Anne Saragnese, daughter Linda & husband Larry Anderson, six grandchildren; Steven VanSciver, Lindsey Merlino, Daniel & Kristen Saragnese, Alyssa & Brittany Anderson, sister Anna Jane & Joe Green, sister-in-law Grace Saragnese, sister-in-law Angie Melocchi, and many nieces & nephews. Graduated from Wilber Watts High School in 1946.

He was captain of the baseball team in his senior year and in 2006 was inducted in the BCHS Hall of Fame. After leaving high school he played in various semi-pro leagues and later in pro-ball with the Dodgers farm team. Baseball has been his life-long passion. He was well known in Burlington as the former owner of Gene’s Atlantic Service station. As an active and devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Willingboro, N.J., he served the Lord as Deacon, Financial Secretary and in various other ministries.

He was driven by love of family and friends, cherishing every moment together. He will be missed.
