Eugene Hitch, age 84, died quietly at his home Saturday, doing what he loved. He was born in Fort Atkinson Wisconsin to the late Edward Hitch and Elizabeth Gietner. He was also preceded in death by his wife Sharon Hitch. Mr. Hitch served faithfully in the US Army National Guard reaching a rank of Sgt. 1st Class. He settled in North Carolina in 1967 and made his home here. He went to work for, and retired from Heavy Duty in Goldsboro.
Mr. Hitch is survived by his sons, Brian Hitch of Goldsboro and Todd Hitch of Wisconsin, his daughter, Lisa Poandl and husband Jim of Goldsboro; four grandchildren, James Poandl and wife Amber, Robert Poandl, Christopher Hitch and Brianna Hitch; along with three great grandchildren, Tyler, Ayden and Madyson Poandl.
