Eugene (Gene) W. Coffman, MD of Scottsdale, AZ, age 95, passed away on February 24, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving and supportive family. Gene was born October 24, 1919 in Detroit, MI. After completing medical school at Wayne State in Detroit, and residency at the VA Hospital in Dearborn, Michigan, he and his wife Roberta (Thomas) moved to Dubuque, Iowa where Gene practiced and founded Dubuque Internal Medicine. After retiring from medical practice he started Ridge Road Nursery in Bellevue, IA where he raised uncommon plants, specializing in Viburnums. Gene is survived by his wife Roberta, his daughters Susan (Bob Simbric), of Camp Verde, AZ, Kathryn (Sergio Bustamante), MD of Phoenix, his son Thomas Coffman, MD of Boise, ID, 6 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 11 step great grandchildren. Gene was preceded in death by his parents Marcus and Sarah Coffman of Detroit, MI and his sister Helen and brother-in-law Jack Turner, MD of Benton Harbor, MI.
