Eugene W. “Gene” Propsner, 87, of Bethlehem Township, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at St. Lukes Hospital, Fountain Hill. He and his wife, Carol A. (Dunekack) Propsner, shared 60 years of marriage. Born in Bayonne, NJ, he was the son of the late John and Matilda (Clader) Propsner. Gene was a 1941 graduate of Plainfield High School in New Jersey. He then served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. Gene worked as a dairy manager for Acme Markets. He was an active member of the Piscataway High School Band Parents Association. Gene was a long-time member of St. Francis Episcopal Church in Dunellen, NJ, where he served as an usher and on the vestry. He was also a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Bethlehem. Gene was a die-hard Mets fan, enjoyed wood crafting and attended many craft fairs with his wife. Survivors: Gene was a devoted family man survived by his loving wife, Carol; children, Kurt E. Propsner and his wife Colleen of Bethlehem Township, Beth Ann Propsner of Piscataway, NJ and Lauren C. Avery and her husband Benjamin of Bound Brook, NJ; sister, Doris Harding; 7 grandchildren, Lee O. and Kenneth D. Roman, Jaime B. Curro, Daniel J. and Keith B. Avery and Sean T. and Kyle S. Propsner; 1 great-grandchild, Sydney C. Roman. Gene was preceded in death by a brother John Propsner and a sister Peggy Evans.
