Eugene “Gene” Brewster was born on October 17, 1927 in the Bronx New York. He passed away on January 29th 2020 after a full life of 92 years. Gene married Rose Stryker in 1949 and they had five children. In 1953 Gene and Rose moved to New Jersey and raised their family. Gene and Rose both worked very hard throughout their lives to provide a wonderful life for their children.
In 1980 they retired to Toms River at the Jersey shore and enjoyed their later years amongst friends and family. Gene had a deep appreciation for the popular music of his youth, especially Frank Sinatra and similar artists. He had a fabulous singing voice himself and entertained not only his family and relatives at home and parties, but also the general public at piano bars and lounges in the area. His love of music was only surpassed by his lifelong devotion to anything related to the classic movies of the 1940’s and 50’s.
He read every book he could find about his favorite movie stars and had a remarkable depth of information and trivia about all of them. He amassed an impressive library of music albums and classic movies that he shared with his family. He was also an avid reader of fiction and was a regular at the local branch of the library. There were always three or four thick novels waiting for his attention at home.
Never shy about his ability to recall and recite obscure passages from Classic literature or film dialogue, ( including a repertoire of celebrity impressions) his deep baritone entertained all who were fortunate enough to know him. Gene is survived by his children Wayne, Wendy, Craig, April and Diane; his seven grandchildren Jennifer, Kellen, Mckenna, Brittany, Kurt, Gina and Kyle and three great-grandchildren Gianna, Jackson and Clover.
