TO GOD BE THE GLORY
Eugene Reed, 83, of Indianapolis, Indiana, with closed eyes and shallow breathing, drifted into heavenly peace early on August 2, 2019 at 6:09 am. He was an Ambassador for Christ every single day since his early years. He continually kept abreast of the teachings of the Bible. His beliefs and faith were unshakable.
Eugene’s his childhood was spent in the small town of Pulaski, Giles County, Tennessee., his birth place. His parents, Tommie and Mary L. (Brown) Reed raised Eugene and five siblings in the urban section of Pulaski. Three sibling, Albert Lee Reed, James William Reed and Cora Lee (Reed) Hunter predeceased him. He leaves to cherish, his other two siblings, Annie Ruth (Reed) Blackshear of Louisville, KY and Joe (Louise) Reed of Meridian MS.
Eugene graduated from Bridgeforth High In 1954 in Pulaski and enlisted in the U. S. Navy where he was honorably discharged after 4 years. Upon returning home from the Navy, Eugene married his sweetheart, Erma Griffin on June 5, 1959 . Their 60 year union (60 this year) was blessed with one daughter and four sons to whom they instilled core values of hard work, education and dedication.
The loving, close-knit family spent quality time together through out the years. Eugene’s love commitment and dedication to his wife and children was undeniable.
