Eugene B. Melvin, 80, of Streator passed away at 5:20 PM Tuesday (July 19, 2016) at O.S.F. St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born on May 29, 1936 in Cornell, IL to Bruce & Ina M. (Robertson) Melvin. He married the former Dixie Gass in April of 1975. She survives.
He is also survived by his children: James Melvin of Wenona, Cythina (Mark) Nuding of Streator, Bryon (Jenna) Melvin of Pontiac, Marlene Berninger of Streator and Deanne (Robert Sr.) Etienne of Streator; 9 grandchildren: 3 great grandchildren; sisters Edith (Lester) Durham of Pontiac and Betty (John) Foote of Wenona and a brother, Wayne (Donna) Melvin of Wenona.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Kinder; a brother, Orville Melvin and a stepson, Terry Ross.
He attended Woodland High School and retired from Thatcher’s Glass after 27 years. He then had worked as a custodial engineer at Northlawn School.
