Etna Jeannette (Vernon) Chitwood, 88, of Indianapolis, died on Thursday, December 22, 2016, in Greenwood. She was born on January 9, 1928, in Indianapolis, to her parents, George William and Mabel (Pashey) Vernon.
She worked for the Sears Department store for over 25 years, as a sales associate. Etna was a member of Meridian Church of God, and more recently attended Southport United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking, and reading cookbooks. She also enjoyed writing and reading her Bible.
Etna is survived by her children, Peggy (James) Good, Irene (Dale) Edwards, and Carl (Donna) Chitwood, all of Greenwood, a sister, Roberta Surber of Greenwood, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale S. Chitwood, and her parents, George and Mabel (Pashey) Vernon.
