Ethel Ruth Reblitz, 90, of Pendleton, passed away November 29, 2015 at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital, Anderson, IN.
Ruth was born to Lola and Leroy South in Dials, SC near GrayCourt, SC, and was also the niece of Mrs. Ethel (South) Chaney of Laurens, SC. She graduated from State High School in Clinton, SC. In 1947, after completing training at the Barrett School of Nursing in Augusta, GA, Ruth became a Registered Nurse and began a lifetime of caring for others.
Subsequently, she also obtained RN certification in Maryland and Virginia. Ruth was married to Victor Reblitz of DePere, WI, and they remained together for 62 years until Vic’s passing in 2010, having raised two children. Ruth was devoted to her family, her friends, and her faith. In recent years she focused her caretaking or her beloved canine companion, Kinzie. Ruth’s memory will be cherished- she was unselfish to a fault and she epitomized the unconditional love only a mother knows. Ruth was a member of the Faith Assembly of God in Anderson, IN, where she particularly enjoyed listening to Pastor Walt Weaver each Sunday. He always managed to make her smile with the humor he included in his inspirational messages.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Lola and Leroy South, Aunt Ethel Chaney, sister Bonnie Shivey, brother Alvin South, and husband Victor.
Ruth is survived by her sister Dorothy Johnson, brothers Jay South and Jimmy South, son Tom Reblitz and wife Sherry, daughter Bonnie Toms and husband Lin, four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
